  • On August 21, 1879, in the small village of Knock, Ireland, fifteen witnesses saw an extraordinary apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, accompanied by St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist, with the Lamb of God on an altar surrounded by angels. Unlike other apparitions, Mary remained silent, her presence itself a message of peace, consolation, and hope during a time of suffering and hardship in Ireland.

     

    Devotion to Our Lady of Knock has since spread worldwide, drawing pilgrims who seek her intercession in times of trial. She is especially venerated as the patroness of Ireland and all who turn to Mary for comfort, healing, and strength.
