Mary is beautifully portrayed in traditional Chinese royal garments, cradling the sleeping Baby Jesus close to her chest.     The devotion to Our Lady, Queen of China, blossomed in the early 20th century as Catholics sought Mary’s intercession in times of trial and uncertainty. In 1941, Pope Pius XII officially declared her the Patroness of China, affirming her role as a source of hope, unity, and maternal love for Chinese Catholics and for the faithful everywhere.
