  • This statue of the Virgin Mary as Rosa Mystica (Mystical Rose) shows her serene and motherly presence, dressed with three roses—white for prayer, red for sacrifice, and gold for penance. These roses are at the heart of the devotion, reminding us to live with purity, love, and faithfulness to God.

     

    The title Rosa Mystica comes from the Litany of Loreto, where Mary is praised as the “Mystical Rose,” the most beautiful flower in God’s garden. In the 1940s, Mary appeared under this title to Pierina Gilli in Montichiari, Italy, calling the faithful to prayer, sacrifice, and penance. Since then, devotion to her as Rosa Mystica has spread throughout the world.

     

    Her feast is lovingly celebrated on July 13, a day when many honor Mary as the Mystical Rose who leads us gently to her Son, Jesus.
