  • The Chaplet of St. Michael offers a beautiful way to honor one of the great Archangels, alongside the nine Choirs of Angels.

The origin of this Chaplet comes from a spiritual experience of a devout servant of God, Antonia d’Astonac, a Carmelite nun who had a vision of St. Michael. In this vision, the Archangel expressed his desire to be honored in the glory of God. This devotion was later approved by Pope Pius IX in 1851.

St. Michael promised that anyone who recited the Chaplet daily would receive his continual protection, both in life and after death. He also assured deliverance from purgatory—not only for the person praying, but also for their relatives—through the assistance of all the holy angels.

Who are the Choirs of Angels?

God created different orders of angels. Sacred Scripture reveals nine choirs or groups of angels: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Powers, Virtues, Principalities, Archangels, and Angels (cf. Isa. 6:2; Gen. 3:24; Col. 1:16; Eph. 1:21; Rom. 8:38).

There may be other angelic orders, but these are the only ones revealed to us through Scripture. The Seraphim are believed to be the highest choir, closest to God, while the Angels form the lowest, yet still powerful, choir.
