St Peregrine Laziosi
St. Peregrine Laziosi (1260–1345) was an Italian Servite friar known for his deep conversion and life of prayer. As a young man, he lived a worldly life, but after encountering St. Philip Benizi, he turned wholeheartedly to God and embraced a life of penance and service. Later in life, St. Peregrine was afflicted with cancer in his leg and faced amputation. On the night before his surgery, he prayed fervently before a crucifix and was miraculously healed.
Because of this miracle, St. Peregrine is especially venerated as the patron saint of those suffering from cancer, serious illness, and life-threatening diseases. Devotion to him brings hope, strength, and encouragement to those enduring physical trials, reminding the faithful of God’s healing power.
This beautifully crafted statue of St. Peregrine portrays him in his black Servite habit, with one leg exposed as a sign of his miraculous healing. Place it in your home or prayer space as a powerful reminder of perseverance in faith, healing through prayer, and God’s unfailing mercy.
His feast day is celebrated on May 1, a day when many gather to seek his intercession for healing and strength.
